Pangbourne Meadow Garden

Project type:

Client Garden

Landscaper:

The Garden Design Company

The owners of this country house near Pangbourne felt overwhelmed by both the scale and upkeep of their existing garden. Their brief centred on creating a low-maintenance design that would screen the trampoline while retaining the terrace and summer house in their current positions.

A sensitive reconfiguration and restoration of the existing planting beds, hedging, lawn, and terrace was undertaken. Expansive herbaceous borders were replaced with a sweeping, low-maintenance meadow, introducing structure and seamlessly connecting the garden to the wider landscape. A variety of new trees were added to enhance screening and support local wildlife.

A particular highlight of the scheme was the creation of a new kitchen garden, with a verdigris container, planted with an olive tree as a centre point which designed to reflect the client’s passion for cut flowers and provide a productive and asthetically pleasing addition to the space.
