For this Victorian terrace property in Poole, RPGD was asked to design a family friendly garden with lots of storage.
We based the design on Alice and Wonderland, using an old stump and converting it to a toadstool tea party sitting area as well as including a vertical garden, tree hanging china lights and a chequered footpath between the terrace areas.
For the little ones, a den was created in the larger of the planting beds as well as a sandpit under the built in bench. The existing slide was hidden behind a cladded wall.
For the adults, a trendy sitting area, covered and with a heat lamp. Storage was a must, so a hidden utility area was created behind the new covered terrace area, complete with a washing line, bike store and log store. Lastly, a swing seat was hung from existing beams in the alley for respite and relaxation.
