Pangbourne

The client of this beautiful country house near Pangbourne felt completely overwhelmed by the maintenance and state of the existing garden. Their main requirements were to have a low maintenance garden, which screened the trampoline and retained the terrace and summer house in their current positions.

At RPGD we decided to sympathetically re-configure and restore the existing beds, hedging, lawn and terrace area. We introduced a sweeping low maintenance meadow, instead of large herbaceous beds, which gave structure to the garden and made it feel as if it was part of the wider landscape.  We also planted lots of new trees for wildlife and screening. One of the best parts of the project was a completely new kitchen garden area, perfect for the client's love of cut flowers.

Since the build has finished, we have had exceptionally dry weather. However, as you can see the structure of the garden and the meadow remains while the cut flower garden still looks incredible. Starting the planting beds and the kitchen garden a-new, has meant the client has spent a lot more time outside. They have planted another meadow around the kitchen garden until the hedging arrives and have continued to develop the garden further through the introduction of more pots and re-planting of the driveway.
